Wootton George Consulting provided regular mentoring support to me for six years, starting when I became the first paid Fundraiser for a local homelessness charity. In addition to the regular meetings, my mentor was always available via phone or email, so I never felt like I was being left to deal with everything on my own. Simon came to our charity's office for a day of mentoring specifically in the area of trust fundraising. I was able to get useful feedback on my applications, talk through the processes I was undertaking and ask those questions that you might not ask if in a room full of fundraisers. Claire's initial work was focused on developing and implementing our fundraising strategy for our Capital Project to create Graeae's first home in its 30 year history. It was our most ambitious fundraising campaign to date and with just over £500,000 to raise in less than 12 months, a not inconsiderable challenge. But from the start the working relationship was an easy one and Claire quickly was able to capture the spirit and culture of Graeae's aspirations for our new building. This understanding of the company's ethos and her ability to speak Graeae's "language", has meant that as our fundraising campaign moves from capital to revenue and training and education projects, we have been able to work swiftly to transform ideas into tangible, well-funded projects. The report enabled the hospice to clearly identify funding opportunities in the short, medium and long term and its recommendations on structure and direction were fully accepted. A number of the recommendations have already been put in place including the recruitment of staff with relevant experience to implement the proposed plans. The hospice has already started to see the positive benefit in terms of increase in revenues and will continue to build on these over the next few years.
